Economic Policies since the Global Financial Crisis Conference

This conference, organised by the Cambridge Trust for New Thinking in Economics (CTNTE), focuses on how economic policies have changed in response to the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) from the viewpoint of the ‘New Economics’, an interdisciplinary approach that is concerned with institutional behaviour, expectations and uncertainty as opposed to traditional economics with its emphasis on equilibrium, mathematical formalism and deterministic solutions.

The Conference brings together eight papers by renown academics across Europe to explore the fiscal policy responses in the immediate aftermath of the GFC changes to the economic policies and attitudes to the financial sector and its regulation the development of ‘unorthodox’ monetary policies changes to industrial policy, labour market and environmental policies the impact of growing concerns over inequality on the policy agenda.

The papers explore the fate of these policy developments at both national and supra-national level.
